What a gorgeous September it has been. Full of activities and changes. Raising the cottage to build a foundation has been the biggest event. Right now the cottage is in the air waiting for the foundation to be poured. THe pouring would have happened this past Thursday, but suddenly after two months without rain, it rained five inches. Our luck is incredible.

Activities for August: reading; playing on porch; playing in little pool; play at cottage; outings and play time with Helen; swimming lessons for Isabelle and Jack; trips to Card Pond; playing with Loves; picnics at Lilac park; zuccini festival in West Stockbridge; Lenox Library book club; terry a la Berry at library and beach; Isabelle’s ballet recital for camp; blueberry picking; Laurel Lake swimming and picnics; biking around Lenox; Isabelle learning to ride bike without training wheels; VACATION to the cape; First grade for Isabelle; mom moving back to Dale; garden harvesting

Activities for September: picnic at cottage with Loves; getting cottage ready for excavation and new foundation; discovering stone patio below picnic table at cottage; apple picking at Bartletts; dinners with Nona; Hay maze with Loves at Taft Farm; first day of school for Jack; kids of the neighborhood playing together; helping to clean out mom’s house; morris school open house; biking; cottage work; garden harvesting; soccer for Bella and Jack on Saturdays; Apple Squeeze; Viola and Roman’s birthday party; raising of cottage; first colds of the season; Seamus’ shots/flu shot and reaction after with fever for 5 days; Seamus’ irritability for over a week; new teeth; seamus taking first few steps; Cottage trench dug. Rain;

Activities for October: Rain, Rain, Rain, Rain…just when the foundation is to be formed and poured; Berkshire Botanical Garden Harvest fair; more rain;

Isabelle: she is now able to put face comfortably under water and will jump in pool. She does the doggie paddle very well. We’re going to take a break from swimming for a bit and then start up again.
Bella’s playing quite a bit with dolls again and plays behind the chair in a cosy nook set up with all her doll stuff.
Bella now can ride her bike very well, round and in circles. I’m so proud of her!
School has gone tremendously well!! Bella really likes her teacher Ms. Crane and she has made a friend (annabelle). She’s so much happier this year (I can tell this by her smiles, her friendliness with Jack, her skipping.) I’m so relieved.

Jack: plays with trains and cars; He’s the first to ask if he can help and loves to work. Lately he helps me a great deal when Bella is in school and he is waiting to go to school at 11:45. School is going well enough, just that when he comes home he’s wiped and takes out his frustration on me. Phew is calls for a lot of creative patience. Lately, the schedule is Isabelle goes to school, I put seamus down for an hour, jack is alone with me. After that the boys and I get stuff done and then Jack goes to school at 11:45. Seamus goes to bed and then Jack is done at 2:30. We then pick up Bella at 3:30 from bus.
During our alone time together Jack and I hang out doing either chores, or most especially cooking. He LOVES to help and wants to do something together every day. I love our time together and it’s a great way to be together.

Seamus: new level of mobiliy now is moving more often from thing to thing on his feet. He has even taken a few steps. I expect he will walk in the next week or so.
Seamus also understanding more and actually speaking ‘english’. His first words include Da (daddy), ma (mom),
He points at things and understands if I say fan, light, wind, Jack, Bella, Kitty.
Just before bed he stands on his stool next to the flowered couch and laughs at the kids. He waves vigourously to us as he’s taken to bed (all the way up the stairs)
He’s happiest outside; Inside he talks, and comlains.
He got his fifth tooth the beginning of September and by his attitude and sour behaviour I think two more are coming;
He’s aware of everything and every sound, especially the kids.
He’s tenative of new people and will cling. If I leave the room he comes to find me. If mike’s around and he leaves, seamus cries.
Normally Seamus is such a happy baby full of smiles. Lately he has been more than challenging, though it probably comes from the teeth issues, shots, and being on the verge of walking.
